As we covered the Heavy MTL festival this summer, we met up with a few bands to know more about them and what was coming up for them.
Here is our interview with: Robb Flynn (lead vocals) from Machine Head

LNL: How’s your day so far?
Robb Flynn: Good, we passed the Canadian border and went back to sleep, and got more sleep which was awesome! So here I am!
LNL: Are you going to watch any show today? If so, which bands are you looking forward to see?
Robb Flynn: I will really try to catch All Shall Perish because I didn’t get to see them played and I really want to see them because I like them a lot and then I didn’t see Suicide Silence either and these guys are friends of ours!
LNL: Besides festivals where you are playing, do you like going to see regular shows?
Robb Flynn: Oh yeah! Totally! I go to shows all the time!
LNL: What was the last one that you saw?
Robb Flynn: The last show I went to was Deftones with Dillinger Escape Plan. Deftones were amazing, amazing, they were so good! I love Deftones, I really love their new record Diamond Eyes; it was my favorite album last year, so they killed it!
LNL: Your new album is set to be released in September, what can we expect from it?
Robb Flynn: Hmmm, I can tell you what you cannot expect; it’s not The Blackening 2. We’re not trying to do what we did on that one as much as we love what we did on that one. It is such a huge moment in our career and we couldn’t stick to that formula; we needed to go someplace else. We’ve got some pretty different stuff on the record. It open with acappella vocals: it’s the first minutes of the record, the song is actually a sonata, it’s about 8 minutes long and it’s in three parts. Cool stuff! We really like it, very different, fast and brutal.
LNL: I can’t wait to hear that! So you are booked until the end of year; do you have plans for 2012?
Robb Flynn: Yeah we will be touring in North America in 2012, it’s hard not to see Canada, and we love Canada!
LNL: Great! Well that’s it for me! Thank you for your time!
Robb Flynn: You’re welcome!
